Katarina Abbas began playing the violin when she was 5 years old at The Junior Academy School of Music. In spring 2014 she took her Bachelor's degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she is currently continuing her Master’s studies with Cecilia Zilliacus.

Katarina has in recent years played as a soloist, performed on stages and competitions both in Sweden and abroad. She has participated in master classes with Professor Saveliy Shalman, Anna Kandinskaya, Catherine Cho, Margaret Pressley and Federico Agostini. She has also received several scholarships, amongst them from the Royal Academy of Music.

Besides being an active chamber musician Katarina has played in orchestras conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Tõnu Kaljuste, Daniel Harding, Sakari Oramo and performed in concert halls such as the Berwald Hall, Stockholm Concert Hall and Royal Swedish Opera. In January 2012, she was on an orchestra tour in the US and performed in the prestigious Carnegie Hall (New York), Chicago Symphony Hall and Strathmore Center (Washington DC).

Katarina is also teaching violin and music theory. Among her students there are prize winners in competitions and students who continued music studies at The Junior Academy School of Music.
